Legs Like Little Splinters
Sorry for the obscure reference in the post title. I've had this song stuck in my head all week. Still, "splinter-like" could possibly describe the legs on this little fella:
It was only after I finished this quick sketch today that I decided to look up photos of tricycles for reference... so yeah, it's obvious I haven't ridden one in a while, because if I had, I'd probably recall the pedals are located on the front tire.
Hopefully I'll get things right next time - still, doing a very quick illustration with little to no preparation was fun!

La Note
I had a little coffee and a snack yesterday at a small French-inspired cafe called La Note in Berkeley. This man, roughly my age, was having lunch with his parents and it reminded me of a trip I took with my own parents to the East Coast a few years ago, where we spent some time in the very French atmosphere of old Quebec City. I'd like to think we looked happier at the time than these three.

B Street and Sixth

Took a short walk during my lunch break today and parked under a tree along the curb to sketch this old Victorian I've had my eye on. It's in dire need of some love - just the way like'em.

I've Got the Green-Blues
So for what it's worth, here's a few recent pages. I apologize for the poor presentation, though I suppose it goes hand in hand with the frantic manner in which these were all done... something that becomes quite apparent when you click on an image and attempt to read my scribbling.

One thing I've noticed is that with the intense amount of red-violet and orange I use at work due to the style of our game, my personal work seems to be snatching up greens and blues wherever it can.

Wanderlust
I'm getting that mad itch to travel again. Only about a month and a half before Alex and I take a short trip to Italy, so my case of wanderlust isn't unbearable just yet. This sign outside of Pinky's Pizza in Petaluma reminds me of old fashioned motel signs I imagine I'd still find off a stretch of highway in the midwest.Friday, April 04, 2008
Later Afternoon Sketch
My aim was to get something down as quickly as possible-- to just paint something outside of work without worrying about the results. Always easier said than done. As if on cue, the marine fog layer rolled in from twenty miles away just as we were getting our block ins done. I think this, along with the chilly wind biting at my exposed hands would have discouraged me, but it was so good to be outside again that I didn't care.
