DuttonPrints

In my continued ignorance of proper web design, I've created a template-based blog where you can purchase prints of my work via Paypal. I've got one piece up so far (The Great Discovery), but definitely look for more in the near future. I'm also accepting personal requests for prints of work you may have previously seen. Just email me at Dutton177@gmail.com for an invoice.

I'd like to say these would make the perfect Christmas gift or something clever like that, but really, I just need this printer to pay for itself.

Mike, you should wrotte: "It's like Christmas, Halloween and Thanksgiving mixed together" !!! Well, be sure it sounds like that to my ears. I will probably purchase The Great Discovery. You can also add your Salinger and Kerouac portraits... I found them terrific ! Dis bonjour à Alex de ma part !
Best.

I was thinking about something... You seems be comfortable with Fantasy illustrations [or with a fantasy mood] and aside that, I know you are able to draw something very different, more close to the editorial field. Your first Last Man Standing picture, or your Kerouac portrait, for exemple. What are the motivations to switch from one to another ? The differences between the two particular aspect ? And what is your interest to put several ropes on your bow [french expression for diversity, sorry] ? Are the Cavs able to win the NBA championship ?
So many questions that I hope read the awnsers in a near update. ;)
[yeah, I admit it, it's a sneacky way to ask for an update]
Best.

Just came across your blog. It seems your having trouble with the web side of promotion. I see that with lots of artists trying to get on the net. You might be interested in reading the first two articles at the Artdojo blog. You may find them helpful.

Hello,

I found your blog after viewing Shelly's. I also looked at your website. I am TOTALLY impressed with your sketches! My God! You are good! I asked Shelly the same question, although she has not answered as of yet. So, I thought maybe you could answer this for me. I'm wondering how you and others are able to draw the figure so well. Is it something you've studied for years upon years, or did you have a natural inclination for capturing the human figure to begin with? I really am curious.

Thanks.

Scott - Glad we traded prints man. I can't wait to get this baby framed.

Julien - Bonjour my friend. In response to your question, I've had so many influences growing up, like comic books, anime, video games, that I sort of naturally got into fantasy illustration. But at the same time, I have the ability to make truly awful jokes, usually by taking old phrases or expressions and bending the context into a corny pun. It's terrible in person, and my poor wife has to deal with it, but I find that it is enjoyable and actually funny in my art. So really, my different styles are simply extensions of who I am and what makes me tick.

cade - thanks for the link. There's some sound advice there. I'm working on putting together a new website so hopefully this will be a non issue in the very near future.

anon- years of figure drawing, anatomy classes, sketching people in public. Basically drawing as much as I can. I have to admit that my classic figure drawing skills are at an all time low, having left school years ago. But it usually comes back after several ripped pages.
